Cyberbullying

What to do if you are being cyberbullied:
  • Do not respond. Bullies are usually looking for a reaction from their target.
  • Save the evidence and talk to your parents. If the bullying persists, share the evidence with an adult in your school such as a teacher, principal or School Safety Officer.
  • Delete or block the bully.

What to do if a friend is being cyberbullied:
  • Try to stop it by not forwarding anything.
  • Tell the bully to stop.
  • Report the bullying to the site or network where you see it.

Don't be a cyberbully:
  • Treat others the same way that you would like to be treated.
  • When communicating with others online you never know where messages end up (power of forwarding)
  • If you don't want the entire world to know what you are writing, then don't write it
  • What is funny to you may be perceived as very hurtful to others, "You can't take it back."
